C02 laser is one of the best non-invasive anti-aging treatments for acne scars, sun damage and wrinkles.

I’ve been a long time patient of Dr. Morgan and Dr. Lesley and really couldn’t recommend them more highly.

What is the fractional CO2 laser used to treat?

Fractional CO2 lasers work to treat the entire face. Specifically it aims to target the loose skin and fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and lips. Additional improvements are made to skin tone, color and texture.

How long after the procedure will it take to see results?

Patients will begin to see improved after the initial healing phase, which takes about 5 days. Improvements will continue for about 3 months, which is the amount of time it takes for collagen to build up within the skin.

What makes fractional CO2 laser different from traditional CO2 laser treatment?

Fractional CO2 laser is a one-time treatment with a shorter recovery process because the beam formed within the laser is fractionated thereby only treating a fraction of the skin. Because of this difference, the laser leaves behind healthy and intact skin bridges in-between the treated areas.

How long do the results last?

The results of CO2 laser are permanent.

How many treatments are needed?

A majority of patients will only need one treatment, which is a huge advantage compared to older fraxel treatments that require multiple iterations.

Where is the procedure performed?

This procedure is performed in-office and last anywhere from 30-50 minutes.

What kind of anesthesia is used for this procedure?

Because the CO2 laser is an ablative laser to target the deepest layers of the skin in order to stimulate collagen production, a topical cream will be used.

Will there be associated pain after the procedure?

There is no associated pain with this procedure, however patients often experience similar symptoms of a sunburn post procedure.

Will the laser treat acne scars?

Fractional CO2 lasers are an ideal tool for combating acne scarring.

Is it safe for all skin types and colors?

Fractional CO2 all skin types and colors.

Are all fractional CO2 laser treatments the same?

Because all laser manufacturers have different associated properties, they all differ in energy profiles and therefore the technique in application will vary. It is important to understand that not all laser treatments will achieve the same results. Because of this fact, patients should address their specific goals prior to their procedure to achieve their desired results.

Do fractional CO2 lasers help with redness of the skin or red spots?

Fractional CO2 lasers do not have the wavelength strength to treat redness, which is often caused by small blood vessels on the surface of the skin. Other lasers would be more appropriate for treating this concern.

Can this be combined with any other procedures?

The CO2 laser can be combined with other surgical procedures such as a facelift and rhinoplasty.
