Relax Lines, Refresh Your Look

BOTOX® & Wrinkle Relaxers

BOTOX can help refresh and rejuvenate your look by relaxing and softening wrinkles — and it can do so much more. Most people are familiar with BOTOX® injections as an anti-aging treatment for lines and wrinkles. However, when administered by a skilled dermatologist like Dr. Morgan Rabach in downtown NYC, BOTOX can also lift the brow, slim the jawline, and make the upper lip appear fuller. Our aesthetic team at LM Medical NYC offers BOTOX cosmetic treatments to address a wide range of facial concerns. Please call our office and continue reading to learn more about how BOTOX injections can enhance your facial features.

What Are BOTOX® & Wrinkle Relaxers?

BOTOX has a long history of use in medical and cosmetic procedures. After receiving FDA approval in 1989, it was initially used to treat moderate-to-severe frown lines. Today, it has useful applications in a wide variety of cosmetics.

BOTOX works by relaxing targeted muscles. Depending on the muscles targeted, this can smooth and minimize fine lines and wrinkles. BOTOX can also help shrink overdeveloped facial muscles or relax specific muscles to provide a “lift” in certain areas of the face. Some of the cosmetic procedures skin expert Dr. Morgan Rabach and our aesthetic team provide using BOTOX injections include:

  • Bunny Lines
  • Chemical Brow Lift
  • Chin Dimples
  • Corner Mouth Lip Lift
  • Forehead/Worry Lines
  • Furrow/Glabella/11’s
  • Mouth Lip Lines
  • Neck Bands/Cords
  • Round Face Treatment
  • Smile Lines/Crow’s Feet
  • Tip of Nose Lift

5 Steps to Prepare for BOTOX® & Wrinkle Relaxers With Dr. Rabach

  • Stop Taking Blood-Thinning Medications and Supplements: To reduce the risk of bruising after BOTOX and wrinkle relaxer injections, avoid blood thinners for 7-10 days before your session in downtown NYC. This includes NSAIDs like Aspirin, Advil, and Aleve, as well as supplements like fish oil, Vitamin E, and ginkgo biloba. Consult your PCP before making any medication changes, however.
  • Steer Clear of Alcohol and Caffeine: Consuming alcohol can increase your risk of bruising. Therefore, you should avoid alcoholic drinks for 24-48 hours before your BOTOX and wrinkle relaxer appointment. On the day of your session, pause the caffeine, as it can make you jittery.
  • Avoid Harsh Skincare Products and Treatments: For 24-48 hours before your BOTOX or wrinkle relaxer session, avoid harsh skincare products to prevent irritation. Stop the use of retinoids, Tretinoin (Retin-A), and glycolic acids. Also, postpone laser hair removal, waxing, and chemical peels.
  • Arrive at Your Appointment Makeup-Free: Before your visit to LM Medical NYC, gently cleanse your face and skip the lotions, creams, makeup, cosmetics, and sunscreen. This allows your aesthetic expert to map out your injection points and administer the product more easily.
  • Plan Ahead: While BOTOX and wrinkle relaxers are quick, seamless treatments with no downtime, you may encounter minor swelling, redness, and itchiness after your injections. Make sure to schedule your procedure a few weeks in advance of any important events or special occasions.

While many candidates for BOTOX and wrinkle relaxers are in their 40s, 50s, and 60s, today, more and more younger patients are using neuromodulators preventatively (“Pre-Tox”) to stave off wrinkles and lines before they become entrenched.1

5 Tips for Recovery From BOTOX® & Wrinkle Relaxers

    1. Take it Easy for 24 Hours After Your Session: Since physical exertion increases blood flow, it is best to rest after BOTOX or wrinkle relaxers instead of immediately diving back into your workouts. However, you will be able to resume work, school, and other normal activities right away.

    1. Sleep on Your Back: BOTOX and wrinkle relaxers are injected into the facial muscles, and the product needs time to settle. To achieve the best possible results, you should rest on your back, avoiding pressure on the treatment areas.

    1. Gently Move Your Face: Performing gentle facial exercises for the first 24-48 hours after your appointment can help ensure your expressions remain natural and effortless. Exercises include frowning, smiling, and squinting. Don’t overdo it or put too much stress on your muscles, however.

    1. Avoid Makeup and Cosmetics: For a few days after your treatment, steer clear of makeup, cosmetics, exfoliants, and fillers to give your BOTOX or wrinkle relaxer time to take full effect.

    1. Limit Sun Exposure: Exposure to heat and UV rays can increase blood pressure, compromising your results and recovery process. Stay out of direct sun for 4-6 hours after your appointment and minimize sun exposure as much as possible for the next few days

Combining BOTOX® & Wrinkle Relaxers With Other Treatments

To maximize your results and ensure you look youthful and refreshed, Dr. Rabach can pair your BOTOX and wrinkle relaxer treatment with other aesthetic solutions. Options include:

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are injectables formulated with hyaluronic acid, a biocompatible compound that increases skin suppleness, radiance, and smoothness. When injected into the lips, jawline, cheeks, temples, or under-eye area, fillers can restore a youthful, energized look that boosts confidence.

Lip Fillers

If your smile looks depleted, whether due to aging or genetics, lip fillers can increase youthful volume, smooth away vertical lip lines, sharpen lip borders, and redefine the Cupid’s bow. This simple, no-downtime procedure delivers luscious, feminine lip contours, leading to a more positive self-image.

PRP + PRF Injections

Derived from your own blood, PRP and PRF contain powerful growth factors that can revitalize both the face and the scalp, eliminating signs of aging while increasing hair growth. They calm inflammation, accelerate cellular repair, and leave you looking and feeling years younger.
