Mini Facelift Surgery

In some cases, patients seeking their first facelift will opt for mini facelift surgery, a slightly less invasive procedure than the traditional facelift.

What Is a Mini Facelift?

If you ask a dozen plastic surgeons how they perform a mini facelift, you may receive a dozen different answers. Each plastic surgeon may have their own version of this procedure, as there is not a set of specific parameters that define the procedure. However, the general consensus is it is a less invasive procedure that involves a shorter incision than the traditional facelift performed by each surgeon.

World-renowned facial surgeon Dr. Lesley uses the deep plane facelift technique to achieve a natural appearance and results that last longer. This includes an incision near each ear to access the skin and tissue in the jowls and upper neck. Excess skin is removed, and the musculoskeletal tissues and skin are elevated and tightened to a more youthful position.

In a mini facelift, a shorter incision is used. This procedure is best for those without excessive extra skin and better skin laxity. Good candidates are usually patients in their 40s or 50s who have the early stages of sagging in the jowls without too much extra skin that needs to be removed. The procedure is slightly less invasive due to the shorter scar and may have a shorter recovery time.
